Soluna is dubbed “The Moroccan Wind Farm Project.” It will develop a wind site consisting of Pods. Each Pod will generate 12MW of power, part of which will be used for cryptocurrency mining. The full site will be able to accomodate around 75 Pods based on the current technology of win turbines. The entire project will adhere to Moroccan laws and regulations.
Soluna has acquired the rights to a huge wind farm site of over 37 thousand acres. It is located in the southern part of Morocco in the city of Dakhla. Soluna emphasizes that their activities will be conducted with “strict accordance with the governing laws of the region.” According to Soluna, they have acquired the necessary approval from the Moroccan government to begin their operation.
The first phase of the project will consist of three Pods which will be able to put out 36MW of power of which 18MW will be used for mining / computing. As a result, this will net around 160,882 tera hash of mining power per second – quite an amazing feat. To put this in perspective, according to cryptocompare’s mining calculator, mining Bitcoin at 160k of Th/s at the time of writing will net you around $700,000 per month.
